Highlight I: What direction will domestic and overseas macro-economy go? And what influence will such directionbring to the commodity?
The world economy is showing a mixed performance this year. The investment, manufacturing industries and employment kept full recoveries in US and the people are expecting government to quit QE and to increase interest rate. While Europe economy recovery to be weak under the influence of high debt, high unemployment rate and deflation, resulting in the expectation of interest cutting and quantitative easing. China is expected to maintain GDP growth at 7.5% during the year under the driving of micro-stimulation policy. Then, what is the future of China economy? The domestic steel demand stays weak under the affect of slowdown of China economy growth and the acceleration in breaking property bubbles. The oversupply remains prominent as the national crude steel output continuously stands beyond 2 million tons during the first three quarters this year. In addition, the stock of finished goods remains in high level, which has given more pressure on the destocking plan. The steel price kept its downward trend due to many negative factors. Many a steel enterprises slip into the loss mud after fight for survival. Where will steel enterprises head in the future? Will industry structural adjustment become the perfect solution?
Highlight III: What are the new developments and changes of iron ore market this year? What are the cost and future expansion of overseas mines? What will happen to China mining enterprises’ operation and development?
A large amount of low-cost imported iron ore is taking over the market with the expansion and commission of overseas mines’ successive projects, leading to the shutdown of domestic mines pressed by high cost. Hence steel mills rely more on the imported iron ore. It is crucial to find out the marginal cost and potential expansion of overseas miners and see how domestic mining enterprises struggle for survival.
